The fall of Rome

I am tired of reading how badly the war has been mismanaged, how wrong George W. is and just about every other Republican in the world who ever supported him. It simply amazes me, no boggles my mind, that every time a Democratic controlled anything comes to pass they in turn tear apart anything that has passed before them.

If we all can take our minds back to one fateful day in American history, 9/11, how we as American’s felt, cried, mourned and the thousands that died. Then to that point in history a few days later, Fireman were at work while the President stood next to them saying how we, as a country would get even with the people responsible for the attack. How we all felt, the pride, the patriotism, the wish to get even.

The entire country knew, right then and there that someone, somewhere had to die for the attacks upon our shore. It was a simple as that, we wanted blood, revenge. We did not care who, bomb them all back to the Stone Age, someone wrote. Reminiscent of an ancient Roman Emperor, George W. Bush was loved, adored by the crowds and they wanted him to send his legions to kill those responsible for the attack upon the heart of Rome.

That was then.

Four years later we have protestors in the streets, some throwing bags of human waste into recruiting offices, lying in the streets to show the dead, a lot has changed.

Along with the change is the loss of the love for their Roman emperor, people are warning, beware the Ides of March to their Julius Cesar as he marches to the Senate. The world has changed and along with it everyone hates American’s. We are the Typhoid Mary of the new age, hated and protested against, our flag burned. Yes, we have made so much progress in the last four years, so much indeed.

Gone are the people banded together for a common goal. Gone is our nation’s political elite standing before Congress, holding hands, Republican and Democrat alike and singing, God Bless America.

The legacy of our President will no doubt be scrutinized, torn apart and looked at with media magnifying glasses for the next fifty years that is if we all are still here to see that.

Yes that is a distinct possibility too, a very distinct one. How can we, in all of our unpatriotic uncaring and lack of concern for our military think for one single moment that bringing our troops home will stop the hatred, the violence, the attacks and the will to destroy our nation?

For once I am thankful that I am older, my health is waning and my vision going. I am thankful that I will not be around to see what our nation’s lack of concern and stupidity will bring forth to haunt us un the future, to destroy our way of life. Yes, I am quite thankful.

You so echo my sentiments.

Just got back from the movie "300"

Loved it. the parallels to our culture and times were haunting.

Unfortunately our doom is sealed with those too weak and fat from the good life......nature "abhors a vacuum" and the tipping point may well come in blood.

History not remembered is repeated. It does not bode well for us. Politicians are a very fickle lot.......their opinions change as the winds blow.

Not so those who love freedom, and would rather die to freedom than live under tyranny.
