Afghanistan is still there

The Ranter
The Views of The Ranter

It sometimes amazes me that we find it so easy to forget about a war on another plot of ground called, Afghanistan. On a personal note, I do not, I read the services, intelligence reports, special operations after reports and anything I can get my coffee soaked, ex-nicotine stained fingers on. (Side note: Nicoderm CQ works my friends, it is still a tough road and takes persistence and pure resolution, but they do work better than most.)

Still, we do not find anything related to Afghanistan as the lead in story on the early or late news, often we find an article buried back on page 33 or something of the paper. The only conclusions I have been able to come up with is the media does not wish to take their fire and lightning reporting, (tongue and cheek) away from the main theater, Iraq. Now, that I have said that and we all fully understand that the media totally destroys and turns around to their side of reporting every morsel of news from Iraq we can go forward.

I have arrived with one train of through regarding Afghanistan, it is comprised of Special Operations teams fighting the Taliban and it is the rule of thumb within the media not to publish their names or show their faces. Perhaps this and this alone is the main reason behind little news, the media does not wish to place someone’s picture on their paper with the face covered in cloth and sunglasses and refer to them as John Doe.

Whatever the case, it still is a fact that they have been fighting the Taliban day after day and it is seldom reported. This article in the DallasNews.com, By David S. Cloud the New York Times reports, “The number of air strikes in Afghanistan have climbed sharply.” It states, “The Air Force has conducted more than 2,000 airstrikes in Afghanistan over the past six months, a sharp increase in bombing that reflects the growing demand for U.S. air cover since NATO has assumed a larger ground combat role, Air Force officials said

The intensifying air campaign has focused on southern Afghanistan, where NATO units, primarily from Britain, Canada and the Netherlands, and U.S. Special Forces have been engaging in the heaviest and most frequent ground combat with Taliban rebels since the invasion.”

The article is well written is does not take sides, the writer points out the danger close bomb droppings having to take place and the depth of the battle. It states further, “One B-1 pilot, Lt. Col. Tim Schepper, said that when troops called for airstrikes, "There are times when you can hear the gunfire and RPGs over the radio in the background, and that's when you know you have helped keep them alive."

We must all remember these individuals are still there, still fighting the Taliban who appear ever resolute to retake their place in the sun and we must remember them in our prayers.

I dont buy the explanation you site, Ranter.. I read a piece a while back called "The Forgotten War", caint remember who wrote it.. It boiled down to: The Stan was JUSTIFIED by 9-11, so therefore, its use as "anti-war propaganda" was minimalized and less troops and less casualties meant that "if it bleeds, it leads" pretty well left The Stan out of the picture..

Since the give-away of the border area to Terrorists by Pakistan, the level of violence is increasin and strategists are assumin that MAJOR attacks, and maybe even some Bases will be over-run this comin Spring..

The Air Support is due to the limited forces that have been supplied by the Coalitions involved and the ruff terrain and weather conditions this time of year.. Other Countries have failed to "pony-up" additional forces to assist in counterin the terrorist buildup and in attacks, and also the increase in the supply of weapons from IRAN !!

You notice that your report was talkin bout B-1s.. I bet it didnt have much to say bout chopper support or F- or A- Class aircraft !! Anti-Aircraft weapons are bein supplied in large numbers in The Stan now by IRAN, and that will keep Fighter and Attack Aircraft support to a minimun now..

The U.S. has been holdin back on increasin the number of American Troops sent because they want the other Countries involved to meet their obligations first..

But "The Boots On The Ground" are givin some reports from the area and the Mil.Blogs and the Defense Watchers are keepin up on that stuff..

I have a new site "Threats Watch" up on my blog and Steve Shippert(sp?) is the "GO TO" guy to watch there.. Also, David Axe is on the move, and if I aint wrong, is in the area of The Stan now and is gonna be givin some "first hand" accounts soon.. These folks have contacts in the Defense Industry and the Pentagon, so they get a lot more info than they share, but if you look close and read-and-reread their stuff, you can pick little tell-tale signs out of their work that give a glimpse of what the REAL story is !!

And if you check out my "Patriot Files" blogroll site, and go to the "Military News" link on the left side of their homepage, you can get some news that dont make the MSM !! Sometimes takes a LOT of siftin, but its often worth the time you spend there.. Beats the shit out of The Dallas Mornin News anyway !!

You keep hangin around me and I'm gonna make a TRUE News Hound out you yet !! snicker snicker

Welcome, Wacky.. Hope you can put up with me here.. As you can see, I kinda like seein Ranter get out on the end of limbs, and then start sawin on em !! snicker snicker

Did you ever notice when something barfs on a computer, it really goes all the way? It simply does not make a small glitch, or hiccup, nope, when it is tired or needs a bit of oxygen for its brains it tends to go off into the bit bucket cosmos somehow, visit little green men and return, reluctantly, but ready to work.

I posted the link to Defense Tech,
http://www.defensetech.org/ published the comment, take a look and there were three or four of the exact same and one with a language out of a horror movie. Possessed computer, or one just tired and needs a break.

My eyes did the proverbial comedic double take and deleted them, only to have two more return.

Humor is great with my first cup of coffee at 5:00am. Makes up for still longing for a cigarette in the morning and sucking on multiple tootsie pops.(It suffices an urge, my dentist recommended it, now I see him once a week. Smile)

Brother Wild Bill,
I thank you, this fills in my gaps and provides me the info I needed.

See what happens when I don't hear from you before I post. The lost lamb on the web of uncertainty.

The defense tech is a great site, I am glad you added it.

Here is the link again, in the event of cosmic humor once more.

Note: I sent you email last night and noticed my computer went off into la-la land somehow when it sent it. I think you may have received multiple copies. Just kill the others, unless my words are so profound you want to keep them for prosperity. (Smile)
