Borders and people do not count, only the ACLU and the courts....

The Ranter
The Views of The Ranter

I read with interest the problems the town of Hazleton, Pa has encountered enforcing ordinances dealing with illegal immigration.

According to the web site containing news coverage of the incident,

The measures, approved by City Council last month, would have imposed fines on landlords who rent to illegal immigrants and denied business permits to companies that give them jobs. They also would have required tenants to register with City Hall and pay for a rental permit.”

“U.S. District Judge James Munley, ruling that landlords, tenants and businesses that cater to Hispanics face the prospect of “irreparable harm” from the laws, issued a temporary restraining order blocking their enforcement.”

“Hispanic groups and the ACLU sued Hazleton on Monday, contending the laws violate the Constitution because they trample on the federal government's exclusive power to regulate immigration.”

As usual the ACLU and the Hispanic groups were behind the court ruling and stopping of the legal enforcement. I did not ascertain if this was placed into law as a result of local voters or simply from a few public leaders. The article did go on to say this:

Mayor Lou Barletta, who spearheaded the law, has argued that illegal immigrants have brought an increase in drugs, crime and gangs to the city. The city's lawyers on Tuesday cited a 10 percent increase in crime between 2004 and 2005 as a reason why the ordinances should be enforced.”

Apparently, this was a result of an increase in crime positively identified to the illegal immigration problem and attempts to not only curb the crime but to control a growing illegal situation in their city.

Like my fellow compatriot Wild Bill, I live in a western city with a large illegal problem that is only getting larger with the passing of each day. Whenever the voters in my city has attempted to do anything positive with this at the polls the ACLU has it stricken down at the higher court level. It has really become an exercise in futility and a total waste of time to even vote on any of the issues only to learn a few weeks later we were bad Americans trying to hold back our fellow humans. What a crock of bovine excrement that is!

We have four or five important propositions on our ballot dealing with various issues and ramifications of the illegal immigration problem and of course, I voted, as I believed and the sad statement to this, is it does not matter how I vote because the laws are stuck down when passed. I can safely assume that all propositions will pass as the Hispanic groups and the ACLU are predicting because people are just tired of fighting the system here and have taken the stance of either, why vote or why bother.

And the beat goes on, da de da de da……..

And meanwhile the beat goes on .. People thank that just cause they pass a Law about Illegals, that all will work out for the best.. The problem with that is that there are already laws to do us till doomsday !! What people fail to see is that the CURE to the problem is ENFORCEMENT !!

Until the people charged with enforcein those laws accept and CARRY OUT their responsibilities, there will not be any change.. Until moral gravity and civic pride again become an actual character trait and not just a political talkin point, then it will still remain business as usual..

Candidates all bellow about change, and that they will get NEW projects approved and underway.. Why dont they just say that they will do what their duties are already outlined as ??

They get elected for 2 years, then spend 18 to 20 months fightin and clawin to get some new pet peeve set into motion, and then get canned in the next election cause they didnt do the duties of the position they were elected for in the first place.. Then the new official comes in and cancels what the last person got started and 2 years has been wasted on bullshit !! 2 years that could have been spent makin their area of responsibility more efficient and controlable..

Research, developement, and implementation of NEW projects are a time consumin and resource-wasteful endeavor.. Specially when present and ongoin needs and duties are ignored..

How bout we just take what has already been approved, and is workin, at least on a limited basis, and DO MORE OF IT ?? Why RE-INVENT THE WHEEL ??

Now to the MEAT of the argument !! Just how do people thank that VIRTUAL FENCE on the Southern Border is gonna work out ?? They can put cameras and sensors in towers all they want, but when the camera picks up a truck crossin the border and the Geiger sensors detect radiation, some cupcake-eatin fatass in a control room is gonna get on the horn and call somebody and tell em what is happenin and the other end of the phone is gonna tell em "sorry, but we just dont have anybody available to go check it out right now" !!

BOOTS ON THE GROUND is workin !! How bout we just have more boots on the ground ??

Even with the limited addition of the number of Guard Troops sent to the Border, it is estimated that illegal crossins have been reduced by 20 percent.. I'm fixin to make a WAG (wild ass guess) here and surmise that that Troop addition has also reduced OTM and Terrorist crossins 50 to 60 percent also !!

So MY proposal for Border Control is to increase the number of TROOPS and Fed Agents on the border.. It WORKS, and will work even better then..

And as a side note here.. In checkin my "grapevine", I have found that the amount of drugs comin across the border is WAY DOWN now !! Seems that many areas of Texas are havin trouble keepin their supply lines intact and dealers are reportin outages of their drug sources..

I WANT MORE OF THIS !!

True words. They just put an unmaned aircraft in the air here, lot of good it will do if no one is there to respond. The Guard does NOT do border enforcement. Paper work only. Not even any weapons. Smart huh?

Like you and many others I am fed up with the problem and as citizens there is not a damn thing we can do. If a Min Man on the border shoots someone he will be prosecuted in a hearbeat.
